Anna A. Kulidjian, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in adult joint reconstruction and musculoskeletal oncology. As a member of the orthopedic oncology team at Moores Cancer Center, she surgically removes bone tumors as well as tumors found in soft tissues including muscle, fascia, fat, and skin. She is skilled at restoring injured limbs through complex reconstructions and limb salvage techniques.Dr. Kulidjian also performs primary and complicated revision knee and hip replacements using advanced technologies and minimally invasive techniques. Her research interests include understanding the mechanisms of sarcoma metastasis and the role of stem cells in the initiation and maintenance of the disease. In the laboratory, she works to find novel therapies to treat sarcoma.Dr. Kulidjian earned her medical degree and completed residency training at University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. She completed dual fellowships at Mt. Sinai Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Kulidjian grew up in Armenia and moved to Toronto with her family after the devastating 1986 earthquake. Involved in the earthquake recovery effort, she decided to become a physician after observing her father, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, bring amputee children from Armenia to Toronto to receive life-changing orthopedic procedures. Bringing the advances we enjoy in the developed world to those less fortunate is a passion of Dr. Kulidjian's. She is working to set up trauma care in a remote area in Kenya at the base of Mt. Kilamanjaro. Through the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust, Dr. Kulidjian has organized a charity hike up Mt. Kilamanjaro to fund the purchase of an ambulance to support trauma care for the Maasai community. A mother of three children, Dr. Kulidjian enjoys spending time with her family. She hikes, surfs and is an amateur chef.
