Prior to joining Goodwin, Brown, Gross & Lovelace, APC, Lucas was an attorney with Albence and Associates, APC, for nearly 5 years in the same practice area. Before Albence & Associates, APC, Lucas was an attorney at a major securities litigation firm headquartered in San Diego. With securities litigation Lucas was involved in a variety of complex litigation cases, including mortgage backed securities cases and post-merger derivative suits. Lucas’s diverse litigation experience in a wide variety of trust and probate litigation matters, all the way to multi-party, national scale cases, gives him a unique perspective in his estate planning, affording his estate litigation clients exceptional representation and his estate planning clients practical experience of the implications of how documents are drafted and the situations they create.

Trusts
Jim is one of San Diego's leading probate litigators to whom other attorneys routinely refer their contested cases. He began his career in civil litigation but now focuses exclusively on trust, estate and elder abuse litigation. Jim is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estate Section of the State Bar of California, a committee that reviews and proposes revisions to the California Probate Code, and is a former Editor of the California Trusts and Estates Quarterly, a scholarly journal. Jim has received numerous accolades including Martindale-Hubbell's AV© Preeminent© rating (highest legal competence), being named "Top Attorney" by the San Diego Daily Transcript, and inclusion in the "Best Lawyers in America" and San Diego Super Lawyers from 2013 to the present. In 2013, Jim was invited to join the prestigious American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and he currently is the California State Chair and he serves on the Fiduciary Litigation Committee. Jim's practice is complemented by acting as a mediator and expert witness, and he has been appointed as a Judge Pro Tem for the San Diego Superior Court, Probate Division.

Probate
Since 2007, Gina has specialized in the area of probate and trust litigation, including the representation of clients in will and trust contests, breach of fiduciary duty and surcharge litigation, financial elder abuse claims, contested conservatorships, and probate-related appeals. Gina complements her practice by acting as a mediator for probate disputes through the West Coast Resolution Group, and by serving as a settlement judge pro tem with the San Diego Superior Court, Probate Division. She is also a member of the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Section of the California Bar and the San Diego County Bar Association, and a Board Member of Probate Attorneys of San Diego (PASD).

Tax Law
Mr. Hickson has specialized in estate planning, probate and trust law for over 40 years, and is experienced in all matters of estate planning and administration. He has prepared numerous wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, and related documents for his clients. His practice also involves handling decedent's estates, including probate and non-probate estates, preparation of federal estate and gift tax returns and handling audits of same. He has formed numerous charitable trusts and foundations, formed pooled income funds for local charities, and set up numerous planned or deferred giving programs for charities in the San Diego area. He has also lectured extensively on estate and tax matters, including CEB (Continuing Education of the Bar) programs in California, and to the Tax Section of the California State Bar.
