General Info: The Nature Conservancy is one of the leading conservation organizations in the world. It protects a variety of ecologically important land and water bodies. Founded in 1951, it protects more than 117 million acres of land and over 5,000 miles of rivers. The organization operates a variety of marine conservation projects worldwide. The Nature Conservancy provides protection against climate change and fire, as well as conserves forests, invasive species and ecosystems. It employs a staff of more than 700 scientists and partners with various indigenous communities, governments, multilateral institutions and nonprofit organizations. The organization serves clients worldwide and protects habitats of plants and animals, including grasslands and coral reefs. The Nature Conservancy maintains one of its office locations in San Fransisco.
