Fantastic Football Sundays

Just to say quickly, this little gem is a great neighborhood place to go and meet up with friends. They have a daily Happy Hour from 4-7 with drink prices that cannot compare to any other bar that I have ever been to and the beautiful bartenders are always friendly and seem like they are happy to see you. You can also watch your favorite football teams on Sunday all day for the owner just added a new NFL package to his four different screens while enjoying Happy Hour from 11-6; the Bloody Mary's are incredible!

All of this in an intimate setting which also hosts great music daily, a pool table, a dart board, and a little area in the back for those of you who enjoy a cigarette with their cocktail.

One more little bonus is the well-known Metal Monday Evening hosted by this fabulous bartender Kenny. He can pour a mean cocktail and yes, there is plenty of your favorite metal music accompanied by a lovely arrangement of videos played on a big screen.

Oh...almost forgot that this is one of the ONLY bars in San Mateo that opens at 6:00 a.m. so if you have a hankerin' for an early mornin' wake-up call, go on down and have a stiff one poured by Phun Phil or German John.

Once you go in you might find yourself staying all day long.

Cheers!

Overall
Awesome Bar in San Mateo

I have been to this Bar on & off for the past 7 years, first it was Bud Morans and then Teddy B's but since it has now changed to Route 92, I have been a regular. All these reviews seem to talk about the owner. No one ever mentions the great drink prices and happy hours they have almost everyday. The new owner has done such a great job cleaning up this place. So what if he is a COP and his COP friends come and visit. All it means, is that it is a much safer place for both men and women. Not only is the owner extremely nice and generous to his customers, he makes sure no crack heads or drunks bother other people in the Bar (they usually get kicked out). Once people come to this bar, they tend to become regulars and appear to have a great time. Friday and Saturday nights have now become my favorite nights because it has many more people than it has ever had the past several years. The bartenders are not only super nice but they are very attractive. They also talk to you and make you feel very comfortable. If you are into having a nice relaxing time at a neighborhood bar with very awesome drink prices, you must stop by and see this place for yourself. my guess, is that you would come back. As for the music, I have seen some people get upset about how the owner controls the music but it is not for himself, it is to keep the good mood going strong. If the music is not controlled, some idiot plays some gothic gross heavy metal stuff that drives people out the door. So I give the owner props for playing awesome music when he is there. One down fall at this bar, is the parking, besides that you will find this bar very enjoyable!

A Hellhole in San Mateo

This place is a sesspool of abnacious men. The guy who owns this place runs around all night talking about himself and trying to talk up his tiny bar. And I bet you anything the one good review on here by bb1687 is him. He thinks his place is extra special cause it has a pool table, darts, the internet jukebox. Like what bar doesn't have those things right? And oh yeah!! If your at the jukebox and going to play music he dosen't personally like, he'll turn it off. No joke! I've seen the guy do this a bunch of times, and he's personally aproached me just about everytime i've just looked at the music on the jukebox and he's told me what i can and can't play, he's a jerk. Especially when he's drunk. And the guy has one hell of a vocabulary on him, numerious times he's spoken of girls, staff and customers and WOW, what a pig. Every other thing out of his mouth is about a girls body part. I used to come to this place every so often but the owner is just to much. He needs to leave his ego at home and leave the women alone. Even the staff there says he just gets in the way. And this bar is so small you can't avoid him, he's always there and he'll make himself know whenever he can. He reminds me and my girlfriends of a washed up looking George Hamilton. He's gotta be around late 40's, fake and baked orange burned skin, gray hair but he colors it, works out to much or more then likely pumps steroids wich would explaine his bi-polar attitude, shaves his body and just loves to be loud and rude. This bar is basically his personal play house for him and his cop friends. Oh and I forgot to mention, he's a COP! And he really drove home drunk to one night, what an example. There's plenty more bars in san mateo to have a much better time at, i wouldn't waste your time here, especially if you're a women.

Great Neighborhood Bar

I stumbled upon Route 92 almost by accident. I stopped in for a quick beer and found myself staying for hours after meeting several friendly people. The bartender was awesome and I just had an overall great time. I stopped in a few days later and the same bartender remembered my name and what I drank. To me that is great customer service! Ever since then I have frequented Route 92, and the place gets better and better! Pool table, darts, the internet jukebox....all good stuff. The new owner is great, he has really cleaned up the place from what I understand. All of the bartenders are amazing!!! It doesn't matter what time of day or day of the week you go, you will always be greeted with a smile. Be prepared to meet some really friendly people as well. After reading a previous review about the owner, I was shocked, because I have never seen that side of him. He is an awesome guy and very, very respectful. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a drink. My guess is that you will come back time and time again!

Never Again!!!!

On a friday night around 11:00pm my friends and were shooting pool at The Great Entertainer down the street from Route 92 and after we were done we thought we'd check out the bar. When we sat at the bar we were approached by a middle aged man who was VERY intoxicated and OVERLY hitting on us. He said his name was Jim and that he owned the place. He wouldn't leave us alone, and he kept asking us if we were leaving and what we thought of the place. Also there was a bunch of older men out behind this place doing drugs out in the open for everyone to see and offered myself and friends to partake, NO THANKS!! This place is small, dirty, and has a very shaddy crowd. And to top it off as we ditched our still full drinks to get out of there, as i was almost out the door, Jim the owner grabbed me by my forearm asking where we were going. I told him we had to go, he just kept trying to convince us to stay and offered a free drink, i refused. He then let go, but under his breath he made a very rude comment of us to the men outside.

So if you wanna get hit on by old men, offered drugs, be phisically assulted and harrased by the owner, then Route 92 is the perfect place!!!!
