Ro's Pizza & Fried Chicken

I came in one day because my kids were hungry. I got a great deal on the pizza I got and the kids loved it!

We chose to patronize Ro's Pizza & Fried Chicken, because we had an "Entertainment Coupon" for $5 off. They even advertise the "Entertainment Book" in a sign posted near the front door. Be warned that the owner, Jamel, decides on a case-by-case basis just how much this $5 coupon is worth. For us, though we met the coupon requirements, it was only worth $2, then after an argument, it was worth $2.50.



The submarine menu included a tuna sub, and a roast beef sub, so that is what we ordered. Ro's is a one-man show, and that man is the owner, Jamel. So an order of two subs took him 20 minutes to prepare, while he also handled two or three pizza orders.



We asked for Provolone cheese on both subs, which he said was available. On one of the subs we received American cheese instead. We asked him to cut one of the subs into four pieces, which is easier to serve to the kids, and he agreed to do this. Except, he failed to do so. I asked for triple jalapeno peppers on my roast beef sub, he said okay. Sorry, but I would not call ten pieces of jalapeno a "triple" serving. But the thing that makes me the most upset, is that for "extra jalapeno's", I was charged an extra $1.50. Unless I am ordering a pizza, I do NOT expect to pay extra for jalapeno's!



Fortunately, I found Jamel to be a true sandwich artist, and my roast beef submarine was delicious from the first bite to the last. The sub roll was doughy fresh. I don't know if he bakes his own rolls, but it tastes like he does. The dressing was a tangy 1000 island. I don't know if he prepares his dressings from scratch, but this tasted like he did. Also I have to admit that this sub actually tasted better with American cheese, than it would if it had come with Provolone! And I regretfully concede that to my taste, it had the perfect amount of jalapeno slices.



My wife rated the Tuna submarine as merely average. She found it dry and lacking in mayo.



All things considered, we might not frequent Ro's again.
