Hickory Pit Too

Looked forward to going for lunch after 2 previous visits, even though the service takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r & have had to sent out a search party for the waitress both times. We wound up sitting in front of the cash register after 5 of the 6 available booths were filthy & we could see all the horseplay & goings-on in the kitchen: worker picked something up from the floor, then back to the food without washing his hands, and another worker tussling & rubbing the 1st worker's hair while he was getting whatever it was off the floor; worker scratching his arm & face, then back to the food; even out front, saw a waitress scratching her nose, then diving into the ice machine to refill a glass. We cancelled our order and asked to speak to the manager. When he came out, I recognized him as the one who had been playing with the 1st worker's hair & instigating all the goofing around. I asked him why they don't wear gloves in the kitchen & he said they don't have to. He said they would put on gloves if I wanted them to while handling MY food & he pointed out that they've served lots of customers & "no one's died yet." I asked him about all the playing around, touching each other & scratching in the kitchen & he said none of that happened. I told him we saw it all through the opening between the kitchen & the dining area & he still denied it. I don't appreciate being called a liar & I especially don't appreciate anyone handling my food & drink after scratching various body parts & playing with hair. Doesn't matter how the food tastes or whether anyone's demise has been traced back to it, this place is dirty from the tables right down to the staff.

Saturday afternoon, place not busy. Waitress said we have 5 minutes left on lunch special never returned. Had to get up and go find her. She came and took our order, special ordered cheeseburgers and then served our order to another table. Will never return!

We ate here on a Saturday and they didn't appear to be busy. I ended up with baked beans on my sweater which wouldn't normally bother me but I didn't have baked beans. Old food was stuck on the edge of the table and this was what was on my sweater. When I approached the staff about this, they blew me off and were very rude. They didn't want to hear my disapproval so I thought I would place it here. The food was tasteless and what was edible lost its interest after the cleanliness issue with the table. The food was cold- the bread was rubbery and the Sweet tea was the only thing we received that was hot( and it tasted old). We will never eat here again!!

You want great food.... You come here!!! Best country cookin and seafood you'll ever want.

The Food is better than ever, Service is great. Pulled Pork Sandwiches are the best I have ever had. Glad to have Semmes Town Hall back!!
