Dental Examination
An adult new patient preventive appointment typically requires approximately one and one-half hour. This appointment usually includes a full mouth cleaning, comprehensive exam, any necessary X-rays, an oral cancer exam, and a full-mouth periodontal evaluation. Personalized oral hygiene instructions will be provided along with suggestions to help you care for your particular oral situations.
X-rays
Advanced decay can sometimes be seen with the naked eye as a black or brown area on the enamel of the tooth; however, decay at this point has been present for an extended period of time. Decay caught in the early stages cannot usually be seen but can be felt by a professional as a softening in the enamel. It can also often be seen on dental X-rays and is the reason that preventive cleanings and checkups are so important in reducing the costs and damage of decay.

Teeth Cleaning
Fluoride Treatment
For persons under fourteen years of age, an initial preventive appointment requires approximately forty minutes. This appointment includes a full mouth cleaning, necessary X-rays, comprehensive exam, and a fluoride treatment. Periodontal evaluations are usually not necessary on children.
Dental Sealants
Tooth sealants protect these susceptible areas by sealing the grooves and depressions, preventing bacteria and food particles from residing in these areas. Sealant material is a resin typically applied to the back teeth, molars and premolars, and areas prone to cavities. It lasts for several years but needs to be checked during regular appointments.

Porcelain veneers are designed to look like your natural teeth and are individually and permanently attached to the fronts of your existing teeth. Bonding utilizes a composite material made of resin to fill in areas of your teeth and correct chipping and shape problems. Dental Bonding

Root Canal Treatment
Tooth decay is a progressive disease resulting from the interaction between sugars in the everyday diet and bacteria that naturally occur on the teeth. Sugar creates a reaction in the bacteria, causing it to produce acids that break down the minerals in teeth, forming cavities. Our practice does not offer orthodontic services, so any issue involving braces, retainers, or orthodontic appliances should be directed to your orthodontist. On the other hand, keeping your teeth whole and healthy for a lifetime is a high priority of our practice. In order to accomplish this goal it is important for you to be able to clean your teeth effectively. Crooked, overlapping, or crowded teeth are impossible to clean effectively; therefore, orthodontic services are recommended to correct these situations in many cases.

Teeth Whitening
We have several methods available for whitening vital teeth: the in-office method, at-home method, or a combination of the two methods. In order to achieve the whitening results you desire, the ADA recommends you seek the professional advice of a dentist, including examination and diagnosis of the cause of tooth discoloration, before you begin any whitening program.
