        Founded in 1983 by brothers Lance and Fred Shaner, Shaner Hotels is a private lodging and management company. It owns and operates more than 20 hotels in 15 United States. The company s hotels collectively have more than 4,000 rooms and represent seven hotel brands, including Comfort Inn, Hampton Inn, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn, Marriott and Radisson. Its first hotel was the 95-room Sheraton in Lockport, N.Y. The company has since grown into the seventh-largest hotel owner-operator in the U.S. Shaner Hotels has headquarters in State College, Pa., and hotels in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio and West Virginia. The company s investors include Boston-based AEW Capital Management.
