Fuel injection consists of a throttle body to control airflow, the fuel injectors, various engine sensors, an electric fuel pump, and a fuel filter. The system is controlled by the vehicles powertrain control module (PCM), which makes all decisions for controlling the injection system. Most early fuel-injection systems used a throttle-body design, where one or more injectors were mounted on a throttle body, resembling a carburetor. Use of the throttle body system faded away gradually as multi-port fuel injection became more prevalent. Multi-port uses a separate fuel injector for each cylinder, located near each cylinder’s intake valve port. Virtually all engines now use multi-port injection.

Check tire pressure frequently. Also, inspect the tires for abnormal tread wear and cuts and bruises along the sidewall. Rotate and balance the tires on a regular basis. If your car has a flat, have the tire professionally repaired. Since most flats are caused by damage to the tire, such as a puncture, anything less than quality repairs can affect the integrity of the tire. The best way to repair a tire is to have it removed from the rim, the inside inspected and corrective measures taken. The quick plug, done from the outside, is no longer recommended by the tire industry. According to experts, the plug repair could fail which invites blowouts. Install only the recommended size tires for your vehicle when replacing them. Installing the incorrect tires can result in contact with body panels or steering and suspension parts. Air Filter Replacement
I had made an appointment for a week out (they were busy, first avail I guess) and called the day before to confirm I would be dropping off the van/key after hours due to some acceleration issues. After dropping off the key in the drop box, I found out that nobody even knew the van was there the entire day because I didn't fill out the paperwork. I didn't even know there was a cabinet up top, nor was it obvious in the dark and with an appointment and confirming with staff - you would think it should not be difficult to figure out a stray Toyota key in the drop box. But OK, I'll accept that's my fault even though it was questionable. I was charged $104 for the diagnostic, even though most places build that into the labor if you go ahead and do the work. I received a long drawn out text link confirmation where I had to go through hoops to agree to it on my phone instead of just talking with the person who was working on the car or a human. Some items were ridiculous like $79+ for an air filter replacement. The cost wasn't the issue - it's the fact that I have a lifetime drop-in K&N air filter that never needs to be replaced. Had someone truly inspected it, it would have been noticed. I also had a battery recommendation of $197, which G&T Auto supply on Hwy 80 did for me for $124 installed in 5 minutes. The work I did agree to seems to be done fine and kudos to the mechanics at least. Without embarrassing anyone in particular, I found the front staff lacking in car knowledge or seemingly indifferent to any explanation of the issues that I continue to repeat. I pretty much already diagnosed the issue, check engine code and was just trying to getting an estimate, not asking for a 1000 point inspection. Ray did text me to explain the diag charge and how others build that into the price. OK - then build it into the price if that's how everyone else does it. I don't know - they're busy for a reason, I guess they must be doing right. But, I will not repeat.

Lighting Services
Most light bulbs in your vehicle’s lighting system are easily replaceable. The bulbs have specific numbers that are listed in the owner’s manual, so look there for the number. To access a socket, you may have to remove a couple of screws to remove a light housing. Twist the socket counterclockwise about a one- quarter turn to remove it (some sockets have arrow markings showing which way to turn). Metal sockets usually unsnap from their housings. Check your owner’s manual to be sure. If you’re changing a halogen or high-intensity discharge headlight bulb, do not touch the bulb with your bare hands. Oil from your skin can cause the bulb to fail prematurely. A turn signal that flashes in one direction, but not in the other direction, usually means there’s a bad bulb on the side that does not flash. If you have a lighting problem and the bulbs and fuses seem OK, have the system diagnosed by a qualified service professional at D & R Car Care.
