Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a group of complex diseases that result in blindness secondary to damage to the optic nerve, one of the structures essential in providing clear vision. The most common type of Glaucoma is known as Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma and it occurs in about 7 out of 10 glaucoma patients. In this type of Glaucoma, the fluid pressure inside the eye builds up and the high pressure levels cause permanent damage to the optic nerve, resulting in vision loss.
Ophthalmology
We are a busy, 3 location Ophthalmology practice with 2 Optical Shops. We are currently looking to hire full-time Technicians and Opticians. The right candidate(s) to join our team will be an excellent team player, possess strong communication skills, is very detail-oriented, dependable, career minded, professional and patient focused. Technician responsibilities include initial patient exam work-up and testing, medical record charting and misc. clinic duties. Optician responsibilities include cutting lenses, frame repairs, assisting patients in retail optical purchases and adjustments, checking and submitting insurance claims. Additionally, all openings require travel to our other location/s. All openings require, at a minimum, 1 year in the Medical, Ophthalmic or Optical field.
Macular Degeneration
One of the most important reasons for regular examinations by your eye care provider is evaluate for the development of macular degeneration. According to the Bright Focus™ Foundation, this condition is the primary cause of loss of vision and blindness in older individuals ages 60 and above and is known under these circumstances as age-related macular degeneration.

Cataracts are very common in older people, and they affect how a person refracts light in the eye. At Holicki Eye Center & Optical in Coldwater, Sturgis, and Angola, our eye doctors can detect cataracts with state-of-the-art technology, and provide eye care treatment for them.
Cataract Surgery
For your VISION needs, Holicki Optical accepts VSP, Eyemed, BCBS, DMERC (Medicares glasses after Cataract surgery), and other vision plans as well. Holicki Optical currently, does not accept Medicaid for Vision Exams or glasses. Please feel free to contact our staff to find out if we are a provider for you insurance. 517-279-7927
Eye Exam
During an eye exam, your doctor will ask you questions about any symptoms or issues you are experiencing, medications your are currently taking, any blurry vision, your work environment, and your overall health. Family history and previous eye or vision conditions will also be discussed during this part of the examination. The Doctor will consider this information when determining any treatments or recommendations.

Diabetic Retinopathy
Normal blood vessels are watertight and do not leak. In diabetes, the retinal blood vessels can become damaged and develop tiny leaks. This is called nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy. Blood and fluid seep from the leaks in the damaged retina. This causes swelling of the retina. When leakage occurs and causes swelling in the central part of the retina which is known as the macula, it is called macular edema and vision will be reduced or blurred. Leakage elsewhere in the retina will usually have no effect on vision.

He specializes in Glaucoma management and treatment, No-Stitch Cataract Surgery, Age Related Macular Degeneration, Diagnosing and Treating Ocular Manifestations of Diabetes, Refractive Surgery, Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery, Pediatric Eye Conditions and other Eye Disorders.
