Starving Students

I would never use this company again and would never recommend this company. We had a four bedroom job that was quoted at 4 hours. We already had a 26' trailer and had packed our house ourselves. Starving Students only had to load the truck--a different company was picking up the truck the next morning to move across country. Two men arrived and left 12 HOURS later. I watched one mover take 30 minutes to wrap two bed boards (not the head board, but the small beams that support the mattress). At four hours, my husband and I asked how much longer the movers thought it would take. The movers said, "Not much longer." We asked this question each hour and received the same response. Annoyed with his partner, one of the movers said, "You'll notice this is pretty much all me. I've packed and loaded 75% of your stuff." Throughout the day, the management office called our movers on their cell phone asking for a time estimate, because they were late for another job. Apparently, this company expects its customers to be financially responsible for their employees' poor work ethic.



We have tried to dispute our $1258 charge that was originally quoted at $300. Melanie in the claims office literally told my husband that she "is only a 100 pound girl and she would have told these movers to pack sand" if they were moving so slow. Melanie claims that we should have sent the movers away if we were not satisfied, but she forgets that not many moving companies work on Sundays or take same-day appointments and that we were moving across the country the following morning and did not have the time or resources to finish the job without their help. In addition, when did customers become supervisors?
