On or about Sept 19th. I called Gulf Coast Yamaha dealer in Texas City and spoke to Greg. I told Greg I had a v star 1100 that I believed needed to have the carbs rebuilt. Since it had been sitting up for a few months. I told him what it was doing and he agreed. He gave me a price of 239.00 labor plus parts. He said parts, if it needs em might run 100.00. The price sounded fair. Since it was my brother's motorcycle, I arranged with my brother to borrow a trailer and get it over there on Sat Sept 24th. I reminded Greg when we got there of our conversation and reconfirmed his labor and parts estimate. He agreed. I reconfirmed the estimate of $239 labor plus parts that might be as much as $100 bringing to the cost to $300-$350. I told him that price was fine as all I had to spend was $400. The following week I get a call from Matt telling me that it needed to have the carbs rebuilt and the total cost is $428.00 with labor being $308.00. I told him that's not the labor rate I was quoted for the job. He said Gregg was off on his labor cost. Since it was a pain in the ass to borrow a trailer and get it their I told him to go ahead and fix it. When my brother picked it up two days later I let Gregg know on the phone I was not happy and I would never use them again. He threatened to charge me for the fuel they put in my brothers tank after draining the old gas out and it was an extra $80 to do that. I said an extra $80 to turn a petcock? He said we had to take the tank off. Now, the thing is, you have to take the tank off anyway to work on the carbs. Of course he wasn't sure about that. These guys are supposed to be the pros right. They know good and well removing the tanks and draining them is part of the job. I feel like, they knew how much I had to spend and they, as I told Greg "squeezed that and a bit more out of me". My advise. Save yourself money and grief and go elsewhere.
