Sunchoke appetizer: Sunchoke was sliced and grilled, very gritty like they were dusted with sand. Mayo was the only good thing about this dish.
Barley soup: for some reason someone in the kitchen added lemon juice to the soup! No amount of hot sauce, salt or even ketchup could save this soup... just plain terrible lemon flavor in a hearty soup!??
Hash with fennel sausage: Nice presentation, eggs cooked as ordered, sausage was tasty and plenty of sausage. The potatoes were for the most part burned and the piece of bread was the heel of the same dried and tastless bread they used in the salad.
The spinch salad had way too much vinaigrette and the dried chewy bread slices!
Very disappointing, especially when they charge what they do for those items! We will not be disappointed by this place again.
The place up the street on the corner is a much better choice in every regard!

We recently had a memorable dinner here for a party of 6. It was a Friday night which presents challenges in walnut creek - but this place delivered a great experience. They were busy but kit crowded, the food delicious across the board, nothing disappointed. The staff makes you feel more like a guest than a customer, there is a nice at home feel. My only complaint is that corkage at $20 felt a little high - still a 5 star spot.
