Wawenock Country Club

I learned to play golf on this course and have been playing it once or twice a year for 30 years. I love it. It's not beautifully manicured, but it's challenging and fun.



Here's a story that will give you a feel for the course: Last year (2009) a friend and I had an early tee time--7:30 or so. There had been a tremendous amount of rain the night before. There is a lake on the fourth hole that had expanded to at least triple its normal size, completely cutting off access to the green from the fairway. When we checked in at the desk, the guy told us about this saying "you'd need a boat to get to the green." He followed this by saying: "Now there IS A BOAT, but if you use it someone has to row it back." Sure enough, there was a rowboat at the edge of the lake at the fourth hole.



Another great thing about this course: you bring your dog, and nobody will care.
