New York Martial Arts Gym- Hudson Valley Mixed Martial Arts

New York Martial Arts Gym has a very impressive website with lots of impressive endorsements. However, the New Windsor, NY facility is not nearly as impressive. It is sparsely equipped with only a wall-to-wall mat for training and exercising and a small, and I mean very small, waiting area for parents of kids and teens to wait while our kids train. If you are thinking about enrolling your kids or teens who might change their minds about martial arts training or if you may have to cancel your enrollment quickly or unexpectedly and you're looking for a quick and easy cancellation policy, this is NOT the place for you. My kids decided after the second session that they no longer wanted to participate. The policy required that I submit my cancellation request in writing, return receipt requested, a full 30 days in advance before my billing stopped so you too might get stuck with a month or more of charges after you or your kids have stopped using the gym. And if you think that you can talk the management out of this requirement, you are sadly mistaken. I tried. All they did was regurgitate the policy back to me. Good luck and think long and hard before enrolling at this mixed martial arts gym.

Stay away from this place. We signed up both of my kids to take Karate classes in the New Windsor, NY location. The instruction there was fine but when they closed down this location we attempted to cancel our contract with them. We cancelled according to the instructions on their web page however, they keep billing me. All attempts to contact them have failed. We've left numerous email messages, voice mail messages and we've even gone out to their Wappingers Falls location to try to contact someone. We were told that the person in charge of billing, Heather, would be notified and get back to us. Months later, no one has responded to any of our attempts to contact them. (Under New York State Law, if you're gym closes or moves to a different location that's more than 25 miles away, that's considered to be a "Substantial Change of Service" and you are entitled to cancel your contract at that point.) Luckily, we've been able to successfully dispute the charges so far but their billing company has been harassing us. One more attempt today and then we get a lawyer to stop the harassment from their billing company.

Horrible payment system, you have to send a letter to "member solutions" to get a cancellation. They continue to charge you after you cancelled. This is such a scam.

Scam Artist! The gym is OK, but their billing process is a scam. I signed my wife up for 1 month. I paid cash because i was not making a commitment, and i know they would pull a fast one and continue charging my account. Well they did!..Now in order to "cancel" a contract i never signed i have to send a letter to this company in PA by certified mail.



Such a bad way to do business.



P.S. they will do anything to try and get your Credit Card. Don't let them charge your account at free will. Then you too will have to send an email then send a cerified letter. By the time this is all done. they will charge you an extra month.
