Dr. Yorks has over 20 years experience in the highly specialized field of refractive surgery. In 1994 she was recruited by Dr. Allan Robbins in his capacity as CEO of the Genesee Valley Eye Institute. In this capacity she assisted Dr. Robbins in the VISX clinical trial for the excimer laser. When Dr. Robbins left GVEI in 1997, Dr. Yorks joined the staff of Robbins Eye Associates and Robbins Laser Site. Dr. Yorks also specializes in the management of cataracts and glaucoma, and performs routine eye examinations and contact lens fittings.

Cataracts
Clouding of the residual back wall of the cataract or posterior capsule is common months to years after surgery. We are able to treat this condition with our YAG laser. Dr. Robbins was one of the first surgeons in New York to utilize the YAG laser to treat the condition. The laser creates a small opening in the eye tissue behind the lens to let light pass through. This outpatient procedure is called a YAG laser capsulotomy and usually performed in our office. It is covered by most insurances and patients may resume normal activities the same day.
Cataract Surgery
Cataract surgery the removal of the cloudy lens in the eye followed by replacement with one of several types of intraocular lenses (IOLs). Cataract surgery is successful, and vision improved, in the vast majority of patients—more than 98% as a matter of fact.*
