        BACK TO BASICS DINING

        If you're looking for basic pancakes and eggs or a tuna melt and sweet potato fries, this is the place for you. While it's not a see-and-be-seen place, it's far enough away from the congestion of the town center, and close enough if you want to hop over there later.



        Though it could use a fresh coat of paint and new seats and flooring, (and isn't quite up to my cleanliness standards) the staff is friendly, the service prompt, and the food, decent.



        On summer evenings especially, expect enthusiastic, but polite crowds waiting in line for their quarts or cones of Petersen's regionally renown ice cream. My favorites are pumpkin and peppermint, but there are flavors for all palates.



        It's a nice place to meet a friend or colleague, and even catch some theater before or after at the Park Road Playhouse next door.



        If the owners spruce up the interior a bit, I'll give it 5 stars. In the meantime, I give it a solid 4 stars.
