Child Support
Child support in Ohio is calculated by statutory formula that accounts for a number of figures, including the number of children subject of the order, party incomes, qualified daycare expenses, the marginal cost for health insurance for the children subject of the order and other factors. This basic child support schedule is commonly referred to as the Ohio Child Support Guideline calculation. There are 2 different child support schedules – one for sole custody or shared parenting calculations (found at R.C. 3119.022), the other for split custody calculations (found at R.C. 3119.023).

Hague Convention This is a international treaty available to parents seeking the return of, or access to, their child. As an international treaty, the parents, not the governments, are parties to the legal action. The countries that are party to the Convention have agreed that a child who is habitually resident in one party country, and who has been removed to or retained in another party country in violation of the left-behind parent's custodial rights, shall be promptly returned to the country of habitual residence. The Convention can also help parents exercise visitation rights abroad. The United States has adopted the treaty and enforces it through the International Child Abduction Remedies Act (ICARA)

Ohio Courts of Appeal which have addressed the issue of spousal support have determined that it is not necessary for a trial court to find all 19 factors to be present in a case in order to award spousal support. Rather, a trial court may award spousal support even if it finds that only one of the 19 spousal support factors are present. In addition, Ohio Courts of Appeals have held that all of the 19 spousal support factors have equal weight and that no one factor is of more importance in awarding spousal support than another factor.
