Call someone else yours and your families lives may depend on it. First let me tell you That This guy "Carl" who works there a friend(75= year old lady) very "UNCOMFORTABLE" at his first visit.And He was there to install a propane line to her hearth,for an auxiliary heater that had already been installed at one time before.However insead of telling her that the stove had been "improperly installed be for and that she would need to vent it all the way through the chimney(not really a big deal she had the manual for the stove and it was VERY simple to follow the proper installation instrustions) Hoe proceeded to DESTROY one of the"SIMPSON Dura Vent elbows;and totally left her hanging with out the stove that was now plumbed and had propane running to it and "ON" with out any stove pipe at all.(Oh did I mention that the elbow he destroyed was actually the elbow that had previously been installed in the flue, and he was trying to fit it to the stove, yeah
that is correct it was already there and he took it off and turned it over and destoryed one elbow). Now this has been about 2 months ago.Now today 11/5/14, he is to return to "FIX" her problem, well this lady whom Carl had made to feel so "uncomfortable" had ask me to be there when he was there and she didn't want to be there at all, and she was already gone when I got there just a couple of mins. late. Well I stayed out of the way and let Carl do his thing and he said that he was finished and was packing up his tools, so I went inside and checked out his "work" SUBSTAND NOT EVEN CLOSE TO CODE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. He had installed new 4" galvanized vent pipe drilled holes and added screws to hold the pieces together, and had the stove burning on HIGH: (he "CARL" told me that the lady whom owned the house had told him to leave it burnuing on LOW, okay Carl do what ever you want ???? Any way he left and the lady must have been parked just up the
street waiting for him to leave because she was there just minutes after he left.She was NOT HAPPY; with the stove being left on HIGH, the 4" galvanized pipe, or the screws,NEITHER WAS I. i also felt(being sensitive to CO from repeted exposure) that the house was indeed filling with this DEADLY GAS..She called and had ( this lady is just TOO NICE) Carl call her back, he did and returned a while later, When she ask me to interseed (ask the questions I thought need to be ask I did) Now get this this guy Carl is suspossed to check for CO (CARBON MONOXIDE) and he brings in a TIF8900 Combustible Gas Detector; CO is not combustible, and TIF does make several CO Analizers/Detectors but they aremuch more expensive than what is needed to detect "COMBUSTIBLE GASES". So he lies and says that this instrument does check for CO and there is none. I then ask about the Simpson Dura Vent Elbow that he destroyed, and why he had the pipe upside down, I swear I thought the
guy was gonna swing on me( kinda wished he would have), any way He knows he is cought doing shoddy work endangering someones lives, and says that since there was a "complaint he had to "RED TAG" the appliance, which he did just that. He turned the stove off at the stove controls, and hung a "RED TAG" on it with a piece of wire. After he left I read the red tag it stated that the gas line had been disconnected and plugged and the gas was turned off at the tank; well he did not disconnect the gas line and he didn't even turn the tank off, which he had never turned it off 2 months ago.
