Bistro on Park Avenue

My husband and I decided to have a date night and since we had a Groupon for Bistro on Park Ave we decided to go there. Around 11:15 I called to make reservations, but the number goes directly to a voicemail that says to leave a message. No one called me back till around 2:00. I asked if I could make a reservation and he said they aren't taking reservations since it was the last night for the Groupon. When we arrived at 6:00 the hostess asked us if we had a reservation.... WHAT?! I was told I could not make a reservation. "Oh, well it will be an hour wait"... WHAT?! Then she pointed to a small high top by the bar and said we could sit there. Since we were going to see a 7:30 movie we could not wait an hour for a normal table. We sat by the bar and when the waitress came she automatically asked if we had a Groupon, and I told her we did. We decided to order drinks since we were in time for their happy hour. The service was a little lagging, but we were still on track to make the movie. The food is ok, but $12.00 for a burger is a little steep. When the check came I noticed we were not given happy hour prices and $7.00 for a house Chardonnay is ridiculous. I asked the waitress and she said happy hour is not included with the Groupon. I'm sorry, where on the Groupon does it say that? And the only reason she knew we had a Groupon is because she asked us upfront, which I have never had someone ask us that before when I had a Groupon for the same restaurant. I told her that we have come there before with a Groupon and still got happy hour prices and she said that they had new owner's now and they didn't want the staff to charge happy hour prices with coupons. Well, since she knew we had a Groupon she should have mentioned that in the first place! So thank you to Laura and the new owner's for ruining my date night! Needless to say I will not go back to this restaurant again, even if there is another Groupon offer.

Loved it!!! The restaurant is a jewel which my wife and I are glad we found. The food is great, the service fast, warm and friendly and the setting is devine -- loved the glassed-in patio! We're going to make Winter Park a place we go back to again and again. In fact my wife and sister-in-law are going to be taking their Mom to Bistro on Park Avenue for Mom's birthday -- 75th but who's counting? I'm sure this meal will be the highlight of the mini-vacation.



If you're visiting Winter Park Bistro on Park Avenue is a must stop. You'll be glad you did.
