- The Friends are a group of people who are bonded together by their love and respect for Huddart and Wunderlich Parks. They are a combination of volunteers, donors, paid staff, and board members, all collaborating with the park rangers to preserve and protect these special resources. It is easy to become part of the Friends community start by visiting these two unique parks, and find out how to volunteer, and donate, even the smallest amount, to the ongoing efforts to make these parks flourish for all who visit. The Friends organization was founded in 1992 as a small program by Woodside residents, and became a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) non-profit organization in 2002. Dedicated to environmental education and land conservation, the early programs of the Friends supported various aspects of Park management and assisted the rangers with plant watering, trail maintenance, and other activities essential to the upkeep of the parks. The Friends had expanded over the years to include educational programs to bring children to the Parks for guided hikes, including the organization of a docent program.
