Fairpoint was purchased by Consolidated Communications a few years ago. Thought the service would get better but was sadly disappointed. We basically went from one slum lord to another.

Business no longer has a presence in Yelm so all issues have to be done via phone/internet.

Because they are the only internet provider in the area, they charge an exorbitant fee for Slow DSL.

Trying to get competent help to fix issues is very difficult. Most issues that we've had, I've ended up fixing myself by running new Cat6 lines throughout the house.

Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Fairpoint/Consolidate.

If I could give less than 1 star for my really pathetic internet connection to fairpoint communications, I would. Both my laptop and my desk top have plenty of room on the hard drive, and there is not any virus affecting the computer to justify the slow slow and then more slow change from one browser page to another. The word"Firefox not responding" is as common a sight as my other icons on the top of the page. It is not Firefox, or Internet Explorer that is the problem as I have deleted both programs and reinstalled them. It is the SLOW FairPoint communications connection. When I am doing business research, I can't tell you how frustrating it is to be STUCK on the page, watching the circle symbol go around and around, then it freezing, and reading Firefox not responding unlimited times. I put in more hours to finish research than should be necessary for what I am paying. I have no choice but to use them, but will be gone if cable comes to rural Thurston county areas. Diane Binder

Extremely over priced for the speeds you pay for. Sporadic service. Poor customer service and long wait times. Low grade equipment for home use. Nickle and dime you for everything.

I have no option other than Fairpoint, otherwise I would change immediately. The TV freezes, sometimes for several minutes, then starts up again and you have missed part of the program you are watching. Other times you get a blue screen saying "this channel is unavailable" or other messages. Then I have to unplog the control box, wait 10 seconds, plug it back in again and wait for several minutes while it cycles through it's system. This goes on several times a week! There are too many trees here to receive satellite service, and Fairpoint is the only cable (although it apparently is NOT a cable) offered. We have 1377 homes here, and everyone that cannot get satellite service is stuck with Fairpoint. It is discussed at every Homeowners Association meeting, and the discussion is not in Fairpoint's favor. You must realize that if ComCast does extend their service to us you will lose well over 1,000 customers. Does this not mean anything to you?
