In many cases, conservative treatment consisting of correcting the foot structure, and new shoes with soft, spacious toe boxes is enough to resolve the condition. While in more severe or longstanding cases orthopedic surgery may be necessary to correct the deformity. The chiropodist may also prescribe some toe exercises that can be done at home to stretch and strengthen the muscles.
Bunions
Bunions form when the normal balance of force that is exerted on the joints and tendons of the foot become disrupted. This can lead to instability in the joint and cause the deformity. They are brought about by years of abnormal motion and pressure over the MTP joint.

Corns
When we walk or stand, our body weight is carried first on the heel and then on the ball of the foot, where the skin is thicker, to withstand the pressure. When this pressure becomes excessive, some areas of the skin thicken, in the form of corns and callus, as a protective response. A callus is an extended area of thickened skin on the soles of the feet, and occurs on areas of pressure. The most common corns are found on the 5th or “smallest” toe. These can be the most painful when they rub up against shoes or boots during daily activity.

Athlete’s foot is caused by fungus. It is not a predisposition of athletes, as anybody can developed athletes foot. It can be caused by warm weather and exercise in which the feet sweat, allowing moisture to accumulate in the shoe. The darkness of tight shoes helps the fungus to grow. The infection can start between the toes and as a result, the feet feel itchy and hot sometimes small yellow blisters appear. Scratching can spread the infection.

Bunions Problems
A bunion is an enlargement of the joint at the base of the big toe—the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint—that forms when the bone or tissue at the big toe joint moves out of place. This forces the toe to bend toward the others, causing an often painful lump of bone on the foot. Since this joint carries a lot of the body’s weight while walking, bunions can cause extreme pain if left untreated. The MTP joint itself may become stiff and sore, making even the wearing of shoes difficult or impossible.

High blood glucose levels over time can damage the nerves, kidneys, eyes, and blood vessels. With damage to the nervous system, a person with diabetes may not be able to feel his or her feet properly. Normal sweat secretion and oil production that lubricates the skin of the foot is impaired. These factors together can lead to abnormal pressure on the skin, bones, and joints of the foot during walking and can lead to the breakdown of the skin of the foot. Pressure ulcers may develop.
Hammertoes
A hammer toe is a deformity of the proximal interphalangeal joint of the second, third, or fourth toe causing it to be permanently bent, resembling a hammer. Hammer toe most frequently results from wearing poorly fit shoes that can force the toe into a bent position, such as excessively high heels or shoes that are too short or narrow for the foot. Having the toes bent for long periods of time can cause the muscles in them to shorten, resulting in the hammer toe deformity. This is often found in conjunction with bunions or other foot problems. It can also be caused by muscle, nerve, or joint damage resulting from conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, stroke, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease or diabetes.

This is often a painful condition in which the nail grows so that it cuts into one or both sides of the nail bed. While ingrown nails can occur in both the nails of the hands and feet, they occur most commonly with the toenails. An ingrown toenail often is not really "ingrown" at all. The appearance of being ingrown may actually be a result of inflammation of the flesh around the nail. The nail becomes embedded and soft under the flesh that has inflamed around it.
Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar Fasciitis usually occurs with repetitive stress on the attachment of the plantar fascia. It may occur at its connection to the heel bone, the midsole or the toes. As stress is applied, the fascia tears from its weakest point, causing microtears - causing inflammation and as a result, pain.
