Dental Examination
We will begin your child’s cleaning by exploring the surface of the teeth to determine if there are any cavities and to examine the quality of existing fillings. The dentist will then perform a periodontal exam to make sure your child’s gums adhere tightly to the teeth, and no periodontal disease or bone loss is present.
X-rays
Because we care about your child’s bodily health and well-being, we believe that reducing the amount of radiation exposure is extremely important. Although the amount of radiation used in dental X-rays is very small, the effect is cumulative, so all radiation counts. Digital X-rays can reduce your child’s exposure to radiation by up to 80 percent!

Teeth Cleaning
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children visit the dentist every three to six months for regular checkups and routine teeth cleanings to keep their teeth and gums healthy. This is bases on their individual risk assessment.
Fluoride Treatment
A fluoride treatment in the dentist’s office takes just a few minutes. After the treatment, patients are asked to not eat anything hard or crunchy and not to drink anything hot for 2 hours. Depending on your child’s oral health or your doctor’s recommendation, your child may be required to have a fluoride treatment every three, six, or 12 months. Your doctor may also prescribe at-home fluoride products such as mouthwash, gels, or antibacterial rinses.
Dental Sealants
We have also assembled a team to assist in caring for your child. They too love to help children experience dentistry in a positive manner. The team has extra technical training on coronal polishing, sealant placement, nitrous oxide monitoring, digital radiographs (X-rays), dental/oral photography, and CPR to help ensure a safe and smooth experience. Most of all, they are dedicated to making your child learn to love visiting the dentist.
Space Maintainers
If a tooth becomes infected and needs to be extracted, you dentist will recommend inserting a space maintainer. If the space is not preserved, other teeth may drift, causing difficult-to-treat crowding and orthodontic problems when permanent teeth come in.

Resin Composite
Newer dental fillings include ceramic and plastic compounds that mimic the appearance of natural teeth. These compounds, often called composite resins, are usually used on the front teeth where a natural appearance is important, as well as on the back teeth depending on the location and extent of the tooth decay.
Veneers
Bonding is less expensive than other cosmetic treatments and can usually be completed in one visit to our office. However, bonding can stain and is easier to break than other cosmetic treatments, such as porcelain veneers. If it does break or chip, tell your doctor. The bonding can generally be easily patched or repaired in one visit.
Crowns
If your child’s tooth has been knocked out of the mouth, find the tooth and rinse it with water (no soap), taking care to only touch the crown of the tooth (the part you can see when it’s in place). Place the tooth in a clean container with milk. Call us immediately and/or head to the hospital. If you act quickly it's possible to save the tooth.
Dental Bonding
Bonding is a conservative way to repair slightly chipped, discolored, or crooked teeth. During dental bonding, a white filling is placed onto your child's tooth to improve its appearance. The filling “bonds” with the tooth, and because it comes in a variety of tooth-colored shades, it closely matches the appearance of your child's natural teeth.

Choosing the right mouthguard is essential. There are three basic types of mouthguards: the pre-made mouthguard, the “boil-and-bite” fitted mouthguard, and a custom-made mouthguard. When choosing a mouthguard, be sure to pick one that is tear-resistant, comfortable and well fitted to your child’s mouth, easy to keep clean, and does not prevent proper breathing. If they wear braces or a retainer, it is imperative for them to wear a mouthguard. Your dentist can show your child how to wear a mouthguard properly and how to choose the right mouthguard.
